Education

I completed my undergraduate degree in computer science and information systems, with a minor in business administration, at the University of Vermont in December of 2022. I have since continued my education through UVM's accelerated Master's program, and I expect to receive my M.S. Computer Science in December of 2023. In addition to my studies, I have worked as a teaching assistant for three computer science courses, CS008: Intro to Website Dev, CS148: Database Design for Web and CS224: Algorithm Design & Analysis. In the spring of 2022, I was nominated to join UVM's Tower Society, an honor society that recognizes ten female or non-binary seniors who demonstrate outstanding leadership, scholarship and service. I am also a member of a sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, where I have held two terms in an executive leadership role, as Vice President of Membership.

Experience

My first job within the technology field was as a free-lance web developer for Game On VT, where I gained experience working one-on-one with a client to implement the desired changes and additions to their website. Read more about this project and others on my portfolio page.

In the summer following my second year at UVM, I had the opportunity to work with Apprentiscope as a software engineering intern. With this position I wrote programs to perform tasks related to the application users’ data, such as generating customized reports, generating default report templates, and data validation and processing. This involved working with Node.js and Vue frameworks.

Since May 2022, I have been working at IBM as a hardware development intern within the electronic design automation department. I have worked on several projects while at IBM, all of them having to do with collecting, analyzing, and comparing timing data from gate-level microprocessor designs and simulations. My time at IBM has proved to be an amazing learning experience. Aside from the programming and analytical skills I have gained during this role, I have gained experience in collaborating with teams, presenting results of projects, and remote working.

Background

I grew up in Vermont's Northest Kingdom where I spent my time working with horses, skiing, and playing sports such as field hockey, ice hockey, and tennis. While being active and spending time in the outdoors have always been passions of mine, I also enjoy hobbies such as cooking, weightlifting and ice fishing. Throughout high school I grew a fondness for STEM subjects, especially chemistry and physics; I enjoyed being able to solve problems using math and natural principles. My senior year, I had my first taste of programming with my AP computer science class, in which I learned Java. This course showed me a pathway for my higher education and career where I could use my problem solving skills and find creative solutions to real world problems.
